When you look at the current fad diets out there, it’s easy to see that they are simply not sustainable over the long term. People are looking for real solutions, not band-aids. And a quick fix won’t give them results that will last.
This leaves them susceptible to other obesity/lifestyle conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and cancer.
And even if they do manage to lose some weight, the chances that they will “fall off the wagon” and gain the weight back are astronomical.
It is a vicious cycle, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Knowledge is power. When you arm yourself with not only the knowledge but the support to be successful you stand a much better chance of losing the weight and keeping it off.
Obesity is draining and can be very isolating. Even those who stand out and are comfortable in their skin still live with the societal stigma that is attached to being overweight. It is unfair and harmful, but it a reality. It is hard to close your ears to that chatter if you are standing alone.
People who have struggled with weight can often feel like they are going through it all alone. They have been on a journey that most of their friends have not. It helps to interact with others who have been there – who have been there and been successful.
And I’m not talking about people who got down to a size 1 or are now fitness models. I am talking about the real people who lowered their A1C, who got their blood pressure under control, and who just got healthier.
That is the purpose of this site. That is why I do what I do. Sure, I post recipes and information, but I also want you to know that you are not alone. I have weight to lose. I’ve come a long way, but I still have a long way to go. That is why I share the things I have learned and am learning with you.
This is not just another weight loss or healthy recipe blog; it is so much more! You have the opportunity here to lay the groundwork that will lead to really making a lasting change in your life. It is my hope that you are learning and developing valuable skills that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.
If you’ve ever tried to lose weight, you probably know well that it is much more than the physical action of weight loss. It is a spiritual pursuit and a psychological struggle as well. I want to present to you a balanced system that provides support for the whole person, not just a body that needs to get smaller.
And it works.
So I say all that to ask you this: What do you want to see here? Are there certain topics that you would like to see?
I’m all ears. 🙂
